SHERINGHAM GOLF CLUB
CHARITY DONATION |
| John Dennis, the outgoing Captain of Sheringham Golf Club,
nominated the North Norfolk Branch of the Alzheimers Society as his charity for
2003/2004. With the very significant help of Sheringham Ladies Captain Pat Beckley
and her Ladies, the Retired Golfers section, members, visitors and last but not least his
wife Pamela, the magnificent sum of £6,350 was raised for charity, a club record.
Events aimed specifically at raising money varied from raffles, tombolas, putting
and chipping competitions, bunker fines, bridge drive, ladies charity night,
Captains ladies night, word puzzles, invitation days, open competitions, fashion
show, auctions and an open Captains Charity Day golf competition. Even the
ubiquitous loose change charity bottle on the bar raised more than
£300 during the year. |

| A cheque was presented to Mrs Ann
Poberefsky, Chairman of the North Norfolk Branch of Alzheimers Society on Saturday
10th April at Sheringham Golf Club, by the Captain and Ladies Captain. The money
will be used to help run the North Norfolk Branch who will eventually have an office at
the Kelling Hospital site. There are two outreach workers who currently each have
caseloads of 30, mostly carers, or carers and Alzheimers sufferers. They also hold
group sessions for up to 12 at North Walsham and Fakenham and anticipate having group
sessions at Sheringham in the near future. In addition to the £6,350 raised for
Alzheimers the Ladies section raised £400 for Parkinsons Disease and the
Retired Golfers £750 for the East Anglia Ambulance helicopter and £250 to SSAFA
(Soldiers, Sailors and Air Force Association) - a grand total of £7,750 in charitable
donations. John Dennis |

Patient and Public Involvement Forum to Receive Further Briefing on the
Development of Cromer & District Hospital
Patient and Public Involvement Forums (PPI Forums) are new organisations, which are giving
members of the public an effective voice about the way their local healthcare is delivered
now and will be delivered in the future. The North Norfolk PPI Forum will be holding a
meeting in public about Cromer & District Hospital, on Monday 12th July at 6 pm, in
Cromer Parish Hall.
At that meeting, David Prior, the Chairman of the Norfolk & Norwich University
Hospital Trust will be addressing the PPI Forum on progress with the proposed new
development of Cromer and District Hospital.
This meeting follows on from the interesting address already given to the Forum by Diana
Clarke, Chief Executive of North Norfolk Primary Care Trust which was attended by only a
small number of members of the public, but produced some robust questioning. At the
meeting on 12th July Forum members will again ask questions on behalf of the patients and
public of North Norfolk. There will also be an opportunity for members of the public to
put their questions at the end of the meeting.
This meeting is being held in the evening in order to encourage members of the public to
attend to hear what the Trust is planning for their local hospital. Questions may be asked
at the meeting or alternatively raised through the Forum in advance. Please contact Julie
Colebrook, the North Norfolk PPI Forum Facilitator on 01603 774324 or e-mail julie.colebrook@nvsppifso.org.uk.
