Dear Editor,
Surely if Sheringham needs to be regenerated it cannot be that vibrant and successful town
we hear so much about! I thought I would put a few suggestions forward and see if anyone
else out there agrees with me.
Roundabouts at the bottom of the Holt Road opposite the Police Station and at the bottom
of Common Lane/top of Beeston Road. A simple solution to two of this towns most
dangerous junctions, you dice with death every time you try to cross! Of course, there
would have to be special roundabout training sessions laid on, as it appears that very few
people know how to use them correctly.
Move the entrance and exit of the main car park to the Cromer Road, that would reduce the
number of vehicles all trying to vie for the same places at the very top of Station Road,
after all, Station Approach, the Station Car Park, Taxi car park and Tyneside car park
really would be enough!
Stop ALL parking along Station Approach, even for disabled people, that road is an
absolute joke at all times.
Remove the low wall outside The Lotus House, or at least the vegetation, this would
greatly improve visibility when trying to come out of the top of Waterbank Road, cars
wouldnt have to get halfway out before realising that their avenue of escape is
blocked.
Take away two of the parking spaces outside Barclays Bank, sea side, this would allow
traffic to flow through town.
Most of all, put RED lines which allow no stopping for anyone in all places where people
currently park and impede traffic flow.
Does anyone agree with me or am I being really outrageous?
R Hankin, Sheringham |

This has been a year of variety, contrast and
interest. Several speakers could not come on the night so we shuffled the programme around
at the last minute. Those coming to hear about hats had a Quiz; those coming for a beetle
drive heard about Myra Hindley instead! Our group have raised £1,875.5 for charity this
year by holding 12 coffee evenings, 2 jumble sales, a Rag Show and an Open Evening. We
have enjoyed fascinating talks, demonstrations and even performances on subjects as
diverse as Fact and Fashion in Food, Millinery, The Bowen Technique, The Lifeboat Museum,
Antarctica, Red Squirrels, Myra HindleyReturn to the Moors, Life on a Razors
Edge and a Night with the Comedians. Our thanks go to all our speakers. We have
entertained ourselves with a quiz, indoor bowls and a beetle drive. As usual we have
enjoyed our food- our own Membership Buffet, Christmas dinner at the Stables and, to
finish our year, a fish and chips supper. We had trip to Caithness Crystal in
November and to the Theatre Royal to see "Sleeping Beauty on Ice" in March.
We have welcomed several new members to share our fun, friendship and fundraising efforts.
Our membership has grown from 15 to 53 over the past 10 years. After many years service,
Pat Lines stood down as Social Secretary and was thanked and presented with a planted
container for her garden at our A.G.M. Three people will take her place! Anne Barker will
continue to lead us as President through the year 2004/05 which begins on September 14th
with a membership buffet.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I refer to Issue no. 15 page 4 with a picture of Evan Tuck who is an owner of a company
called Sperts Spectrum in HOLT. However after calling the council there, they have no
records of such a company name. Please could any one shed some more light on where to
contact Evan Tuck or further my
investigation to find this old friend of mine who once taught the best gymnasts in the
country including british champions
Thankyou, Martyn Ellis, cuffwear@tiscali.co.uk |
