Sheringham Community Paper
The busiest week for Sheringham Police is now behind us. We saw a large turn out for the carnival parade and the public events afterwards, which I am pleased to say, resulted in only one arrest for a minor offence. The general behaviour was excellent the event finally coming to a close at 0200am with every body heading to the Kebab shop before finding their way home. Saturday saw the passing of John West and all the sorrow this bought to the Town. Myself and the Officers at Sheringham offer our condolences to John's family.  I continue to receive complaints of cars speeding in the centre of Town and being a nuisance on the Station Road car park. The officers at Sheringham continue to take positive action on these matters and as a result more officers are being trained in the use of speed guns. As I patrol, I see that members of the public are still placing cars for sale on the lay-by opposite Childs Way. This is in breach of the parking regulations in place there and as such can result in a fixed penalty ticket, so I ask that this practice be discontinued. I have recently seen a report of an incident that one of our elderly residents was approached at their home and had tasks completed around their property resulting in an over inflated bill for services rendered. I would suggest it is always a good idea to use locally known trades man and if you are approached and feel worried then phone the Police. We will always try to attend, to put your mind at rest. As always, if you need to speak to a Police officer regarding Bogus Callers or any other matter please contact Sheringham or call in at the Station.

If practice makes perfect and nobody's perfect,
why practice?
"We face the real prospect of a cut in policemen in Norfolk and the fault lies squarely at the door of David Blunkett. He talks tough but has shackled the Police at every opportunity by imposing ridiculous amounts of bureaucracy and paperpushing. These extra burdens are unfunded and he expects local council tax payers to do his dirty work for him. We learnt this week that the Norfolk Norwich Hospital is £15
million in the red and that local schools are about to lay off 100 teachers. Now we learn that police are under threat too as a £7.8 million black hole has been discovered in Norfolk Police funding. This is too much of a coincidence and demonstrates clearly that Labour are underfunding our public services while at the same time spinning that things have got better. Norfolk people can see clearly with their own eyes what is happening and no amount of spin from David Blunkett can hide the fact that our Police are facing a mounting funding crisis.
