| On Sunday 5th August a young girl of around
ten years old was in a dingy and quite obviously having problems. She was drifting toward
the boulders on the West Beach. The gentleman who told me of this was about to divest
himself of his garments and shoes and go to her aid, when a man came powering down the
beach behind him. He went into the sea and pulled the child to safety. His name was Dale
Creasey a man many of us ar happy to call a friend. Another careless holiday maker has
been saved by a local hero. Well done Dale. Please, please take note, the sea is a very
dangerous beast and you can get into difficulties very quickly. Tie all inflatables so
that they do not drift out to sea or into the rocks. Keep a very close eye on your
children, they do not stand a chance against the power of our sea. The Lifeboatmen and
Coastguards are often called out to people in distress which can often be avoided by
awareness. |
