People heading to Norwich on a Saturday night
will have an alternative means of getting home as of 13th November, with the long awaited
arrival of Marett's Chariots 'Night Bus' to and from the city. Night owls will at
last have an alternative to coming home early by train or bus or paying for a taxi to get
them home after most public service vehicles have ceased to run. Marett's Chariots will be
offering two services on a Saturday to and from the city leaving Sheringham main car park
at 7pm and 9.30pm calling at Cromer bus station on the way to Norwich.
The bus will be returning from Norwich at midnight and 2am. Return tickets cost £7.00 per
person with discounts for party bookings. Anthony Marett commented, "We have
been sending coaches and mini buses to Norwich from Sheringham and Cromer nearly every
weekend for years and I've thought for some time that the lack of public transport to and
from North Norfolk late at night is appalling, hopefully this service will address that
situation". When asked about the potential for trouble Mr Marett said,
"Each coach will be double manned with a driver and a trained first aider and we have
been in discussions with Norfolk Police who are watching our service very closely as they
are very keen to start something similar in Norwich as of February when the licensing laws
are relaxed. To date the behaviour of the people travelling to Norwich has been nothing
short of impeccable but should anybody cause trouble they will immediately be reported to
the police and banned from further travel with us".
Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 01263 837900 or turn up and buy on the
night. |
