Dear Vic
I always read your article with interest, but your last article in no. 43 contained a
paragraph of thoughtless bad taste. I think you were laughing at our inability to cross
the Cromer Road between Beeston Road and common Lane. I quote, you always get the
one who will not move In the case you are referring to, a car blindly ran into
the back of a cyclist and killed her. She was a most careful and much valued neighbour. We
all miss her. Yours sincerely, Audrey.
Dear Audrey, I feel in this case I have to defend myself. The paragraph
you refer to was not poking fun at people not being able to cross the Cromer Road, but in
fact it referred to drivers on Station Approach. I would not make fun of any fatality and
in the case you mention, the lady was in fact a very good friend of mine and as you say
sorely missed. This paper has long advocated safe crossing places on the Cromer Road as it
is dangerous for all ages and abilities to cross. I hope that this has made clear my view.
