CHARITY TRUST HELPS LOCAL CHARITY GET READY FOR THE SPRING!

BREAK has been awarded £3,500 from Tesco Charity Trust to help improve services at the charity’s Rainbow holiday centre in Sheringham, in time for guests arriving for their Spring breaks.  On Friday 18 February, Stalham Tesco Store Manager, Trevor Bunting and Customer Service Manager, Jackie Woolnough will be visiting the BREAK centre to see for themselves exactly what the money has done for the charity. Whilst at Rainbow, they will meet with children who have come to the centre for their half term holiday and are already benefiting from the funding.  Janice Fenn, Manager of the Rainbow holiday centre said; “We were thrilled to receive this funding, as it means we can kick-start our refurbishment programme. We have already decorated one bedroom completely and are in the process of redecorating a second bedroom with this money. We have also been able to purchase a hoist for lifting guests who have physical disabilities. This hoist is excellent as it allows us to hoist guests from the floor, which our other hoist wasn’t able to do. Therefore we can lift guests into and out of bean bags on the floor, which enables them to take part in more activities with other guests. It also for a higher weight limit of guests, which again is beneficial to us as due to health and safety restrictions we are unable to lift our guests. Thank you to Tesco – this funding has been invaluable to us – and the guests love the new decoration and have already benefited from the new hoist.”  Store manager, Trevor Bunting said: "We are pleased to be supporting the valuable work BREAK are doing in the local area. We are sure that the £3,500 donation will bring practical benefits to the local community and definitely help both youngsters and adults to enjoy holidaying in Norfolk."

ROTARY CLUB

Cromer and Sheringham Rotary Club had a busy start to the year. Members were able to make a number of donations from club funds to the South East Asia Tsunami appeal, both through their normal Aquabox and Shelter Box schemes, a special Sri Lankan project and three van-loads of clothing and other items, including tents, tools and toys, shipped to Indonesia. These items were all generously donated at the shop which the club weas able to operate in Tucket Street in Cromer during January.

At the first meeting in Feburary, two more cheques were presented. Alan Chapman and Hannah Brown attended the Wednesday meeting on behalf of two local charities. Alan received a cheque for £1300 on behalf of Break, which operates a number of care and respite residential and day centres in Norfolk, and Hannah received a cheque for £1000 for the East Anglian Children's Hopsices, to assist in the running of their three centres. The funds for Break were raised through the Christmas street collection with Santa's sleigh in Cromer and Sheringham, and the two days Christmas collection at Morrison's supermarket. The cheque for E.A.C.H. was a result of a concert earlier in the year earlier in the year at Cromer parish church by BBC Radio 2 organist Nigel Ogden, who is already booked for a return visit on July 29th this year.
