WALK HELPS OTHERS GET A LIFT!

A dream has finally been realised for BREAK charity’s Sheringham-based Rainbow holiday centre this week, as a new minibus arrived to replace an aging minibus at the centre. The minibus will take guests with disabilities staying for their holidays at Rainbow on days out to local attractions.  The minibus was paid for by a special fundraising event where 44 people, mainly drawn from Cambridge-based firms, completed the ‘Lyke Wake Walk’ – a 42 mile hike across the North Yorkshire Moors. The event, which took place in September and was organised by Taylor Vinters Solicitors of Cambridge, raised £51,329.00; not only paying for this specially adapted minibus, but also the completion of a two-year window replacement programme at Rainbow and other specially adapted equipment for use by guests.  Clare Martin of Taylor Vinters said, “We chose BREAK as our aim was to create a step change for that charity – to complete a well-overdue programme of refurbishment and to purchase a much-needed minibus was wonderful. It has made such a difference to BREAK, Rainbow and their guests.”  Alan Chapman, Fundraising Manager for BREAK said, “We are delighted that we were chosen by Taylor Vinters as their beneficiary – it really has made a tremendous difference to us and our guests at Rainbow. The 15 seat minibus, supplied by East Bilney Garage, has been specially adapted with a wheelchair lift and other equipment for our guests with disabilities. This is so that everyone can get the very best from their holidays with us. After all, if you come to Norfolk you want to go out and explore all that this area has to offer and this will enable our guests to do just that – in comfort and style! We could not have afforded to replace our aging minibus without this support, so thank you to all concerned – from all of us!”
