The Hot Mikado

Fans of traditional Gilbert and Sullivan productions or those wanting to see something different will love FALDO'S next production 'THE HOT MIKADO', this production romps through those ever popular Gilbert and Sullivan songs such as Three Little Maids, A Wandering Minstrel and Tit Willow in rip-roaring style.  The Hot Mikado is a stunning parody of the original show set in an era of swing, jazz, gospel and blues with cast in 1940s zoot suits, swing dresses, felt hats all in colourful kimono silk style as they dance their way through the lively musical score.

Musical Director Ian McEvansoneya has been putting together a band of very talented musicians who will also have to look the part as they will be appearing on stage with the cast as an integral part of the show, with Act 1 set in Ko-Ko's jazz club instead of the usual Titipu town square.  "It has been a most amazing show to rehearse, my biggest challenge yet," says Jackie Overton the Director, "The cast is having so much fun I am sure this will come over to the audience so that they will have a wonderful nights entertainment".  The show is being performed from 10th -14th May at Fakenham Community Centre at 7.30pm. Ticket prices are £7.00 - £9.00. The box office, 10am to 1pm: 01328 855654

FARPLACE ANIMAL RESCUE

Farplace animal rescue a greyhound

Thai, pictured here, is a greyhound cross and 4 months old. He is very loving and soft, and will make a wonderful pet.  However, we must warn anyone who is interested that Thai will be a big dog despite softness.  If you are interested, do call us on 01388 517397 to discuss this very special boy.   Spring is our busiest time, with a number of projects underway at the same time as so many animals coming in.  We have built a new outdoor summer rabbit enclosure near the house which is delighting our current rabbit residents.  We ALWAYS have lots of rabbits at Farplace, so if you would be interested in one as a house rabbit in particular, they make wonderful pets.  We always struggle financially at this time of year too, so if you do want to help there are a number of simple ways you can.  If you would like to help in any way, do email or or write to Farplace Animal Rescue, Farplace, Sidehead, Westgate, Co Durham, DL13 1LE.

Sheringham Team win Monopoly Trophy

A team of young people from Sheringham Baptist Church Youth Group took first place in the annual Monopoly tournament organised by Norwich Diocesan Youth. The team of seven youngsters: Martin Rothe, Gemma Arnold, Tom Waite, Debbie Holt, Thena Steyn, Natasha Lloyd and Oli Ward travelled to London last Saturday with their leaders Daniel Beckett and Jo Waite and their Shrek donkey mascot to travel round the capital visiting Monopoly properties.

The group were photographed at each location, and extra points were gained by including London icons such as buses in the pictures, and visiting the properties in the correct order. The Sheringham team scooped the trophy, which had been won for the last 5 years by the youth team from Holy Trinity church in Norwich. Youth leader Daniel Becket attributed their success to careful planning, advance warning of Tube closures, and extensive practice at playing Monopoly! The team have the trophy for a year, and are looking forward to defending their title in 2006.

READERS LETTER

Are we ever going to get any of the green back opposite Whistlestop? I know plans were put forward by the North Norfolk Railway to do an extension, but I didn't realise that most of the green space in town would disappear. I used to enjoy sitting there watching the world go by, but now what little is left will be so crowded in good weather that it will no longer be a pleasure.
