The role of the Police Community
Support Officer in North Norfolk
PCSO's are uniformed staff within the Norfolk Constabulary who's many
roles include foot patrols aimed at the prevention and deterrent of crime, by supporting
the police in their duties and also the community in a practical manner. One of the
main roles of the PCSO is to tackle Anti-social behaviour and for that we need the help of
the public. When we receive calls from people telling us that children/youths are
causing problems they often do not give any sort of description, it would help us in
tracing the individuals concerned by taking a few basic details;
Approximate age, height, hair colour, clothing (i.e. navy sweatshirt and blue jeans), and
anything else that distinguishes them, i.e. on a bike or a skateboard.
These are details that can be seen from within a property through the
windows, so there is no need to confront anyone. It is very important as police officers
we locate areas with localised problems and identify offenders, talk to the right people
and get to the bottom of the problem. I have given you my contact number please use it,
should you feel I could help in the Community with any of the aforementioned issues.

Sheringham Lifeboat
Manchester Unity of Oddfellows
Service Launch
5th April 2005
Following a 999 call to Yarmouth Coastguard, Sheringham Lifeboat was
launched at their request at 12.20 hrs to go to the assistance of two teenagers who had
gone to sea in a toy inflatable and were being blown offshore by an offshore wind.
The occupants eventually managed to get near to the shore were a coastguard officer hauled
them onto the beach.
Another example of a dire lack of basic knowledge which could easily have resulted in the
tragic loss of 2 lives - but thankfully did not.
