'BREAK' INTO A GALLOP FOR BREAK AT ANNUAL HORSE RIDE

Whether you prefer a gallop or a canter, or maybe just a steady trot, everyone and their four-legged friends are welcome to come along to BREAK charity’s Stody Horse Ride on Sunday 12 June - 10am start time with all riders back by 2pm. This fun local fundraising event will raise funds to provide holidays, short breaks and respite care for children and adults with special needs. Liz Holman, Community Fundraising Officer and event organiser for BREAK said; "This is a great annual event where people come to ride their horses, in the surrounding of our beautiful Norfolk landscape. Thank you to Ian and Adel MacNichol, owners of Stody Estate, near Holt, for allowing us to use the parkland for this event and continuing to support BREAK. Not only is this a lovely day out for everyone, but it also serves to remind us that those caring for someone with special needs often require 24 hour a day care, and therefore do not get opportunities to just take a day off and do something like this. With your support, more people can benefit from our services, so that we can help those who have the most need to take a 'break'. Last year, this event raised £1390 – this funding has provided the contribution towards three weeks’ holidays for children or adults with disabilities at our centres this year, so we really are providing a break – just by taking one ourselves – so come along and join us!

There is a choice of courses on the day of either six or eight miles, and both are suitable for all ages and abilities, although riders will also be able to go round as many times as they wish. Money raised from the event will go towards raising essential funds for holidays and short breaks for people with disabilities this summer at The Rainbow in Sheringham and The Sandcastle in Hunstanton. Donations of £20 per horse and rider entry, or raise sponsorship so that you can collect more money for this worthy cause. Catering will be available on the day ‘Yum Tum’s’ – and water for the horses. If you would like to take part in this event and/ or for a sponsorship form, to book your place please contact Liz Holman, Community Fundraising Officer on 01263 820710.

GREAT NEWS FROM STREETSAFE!

The County Council have confirmed, at last, that we will have a fully operational Pedestrian Crossing in place at the top of Holway Road by the end of December 2005. This will ensure that children, parents and other pedestrians can cross this extremely busy road safely – making the journey to school a less hazardous one.

Dear Editor
I would like to speak up for the majority of the youth in Sheringham, when I had difficulty in walking across the road one busy Saturday, it was a young teenage boy who bothered to help, many older people just walked past me. Pam A
