Sheringham FC get Hat trick

Sheringham FC is celebrating again after yet another very successful season. You may remember our front-page headline of Issue 37 last year when we featured Sheringham FC who had gained promotion in each of the last two seasons. The team were not only back where they belonged but also this season launched an assault on the Premier Division and have proved yet again that they are a magnificent team.

Sheringham claimed the three points they needed to be crowned champions of Division 2 with four games remaining. Yet another promotion, you have completed a hat trick and we at the paper would like to wish you well for the next season. We would also like to say a huge WELL DONE, not only to the team, but everyone involved from the sponsors to those who make the half time refreshments. We believe that your crowds have already swelled, hopefully next season even more people will turn out to support you all.

Where is Solomon today?
Why don't we harder pray?
We could know what's
Right to say
How to count our blessings
And make our country great again

Dear Editor,
The media coverage of the death of Pope John Paul was very good. But please may I make one observation. Often the commentators were reduced to talking of the 'paradox' of the Pope's views and positions. Part of this problem is that, in making our assessments, we tend to place people in boxes defined by the secular political spectrum. In truth there is no paradox or inconsistency in Pope John Paul's message. Its foundation is in the fundamental truth that the value of each human person has been created in the image of God's love with a unique place in the divine plan of redemption and salvation. Thus for him atheistic communism subjects people's individualism to the state and capitalism is the exploitation of the many for the wealth of the few. Equally, the pope saw that sexual liberation was not merely a lifestyle choice but the misuse of a gift from God that led to the use and abuse of others, often venerable people for personal pleasure.

Pope John Paul shows that life is for living (www.life4seekers.co.uk).
I would strongly recommend that people read his books, letters and poems etc for themselves. Obtainable from St Paul's London, Tel 020 7828 5582; The SPCK. In Norwich or at Walsingham Tel. 01328 820495.
