Little Theatre with a Big History!

Sheringham takes a trip down memory lane as the Little Theatre holds a special exhibition, “Voices From The Hub”, which reflects on the fascinating history of this unique little venue. Archive photographs and local stories are on display giving an insight into the theatre’s interesting past.

Nostalgic entertainment is on offer too, as The Little Theatre Society present some good old fashioned Music Hall! ‘A Little More of What you Fancy’ comes to the stage for five nights during the exhibition. Long serving favourite Little Theatre performers are all on offer including: Sheringham’s very own Danny La Rue, Terry Chappelle, the popular Town Crier, Mr Tony Nelson and the irresistible comedy magician, Maurice Phillips. These accomplished artistes share the bill with new up and coming talent which includes dancers from The Barbara Sutton Dance School and a young saxophonist, Michael Harrison.

READERS LETTER

A very wise man once gave me a piece of advice, which I have tried to live my life by: Treat others, as you would wish them to treat you.  It is not always easy, indeed it is often very hard to follow this advice, especially when you are then thanked by rudeness. So people out there, if someone opens a door and allows you passage, say thank you or at least smile! If someone lets you go first on the road - acknowledge his or her help. If someone picks up something you have dropped and gives it back, say thank you. If common courtesy is met with thanks or a smile, it makes life just that little bit brighter and encourages people to do it again.  Walk down the street with a bounce in your step and a smile on your face and you will find that people smile back, a little ray of sunshine in what sometimes seems to be a very bad world. Say hello to people you pass in the street regularly, most will say hello back, this can often then build into a conversation over a period of time until before you know it you have made a friend. The Macmillan Cancer Relief ‘Bike Blickling’ sponsored cycle ride is coming soon and we need you to get on your bike to support local cancer services!  We need you to get on your bike for Macmillan Cancer Relief and take part in a 5 mile circular sponsored cycle ride through the beautiful grounds of Blickling Hall, near Aylsham, on Saturday 11th June.  The bike ride follows a brand new cycle track around Blickling Hall’s parkland and is ideal for families and cyclists of all ages. However, if you fancy a more challenging cycle ride, then you are welcome to bike the 5 mile course as many times as you like!   Anglia TV’s Clare Weller is backing ‘Bike Blickling’ and encourages all budding cyclists to take part in the event and start pedalling for pounds.

Blickling bike ride

Clare says ‘What better way to raise money for a great cause than to cycle around one of the region's most beautiful and historic houses. I've spent many happy days walking in the grounds of Blickling Hall - now you can take in the scenery on two wheels as well. It'll be a fabulous day out for the whole family and most importantly it'll provide vital funding for local Macmillan cancer services’.  After your exertions, tasty refreshments will be available to help you get your strength back in Blickling’s attractive picnic area.  All we ask is for each individual cyclist to raise at least £25 and each family of four (2 adults and 2 children) to raise at least £60 in sponsorship to fund vital local cancer services.  A limited bike hire service will be available on a first come first served basis, which can be booked on registration for the event. (We ask all cyclists to register for the event in advance, whether you are bringing your own bike, or wish to hire a bike.)  Please note that cyclists will not be able to register for the event on the day.  The ‘Bike Blickling’ cycle ride has been kindly sponsored by Sekura-Byk – the only name in cycle security.   If you would like to get on your bike for Macmillan Cancer Relief in Norfolk, then please call Jess at the Norfolk fundraising office on 01603 626433 to register for our sponsored cycle.  Once you have registered, we will send you your entry pack which is crammed with fundraising tips, information on the event and sponsorship forms. (Please note that there is a registration fee of £5 per cyclist over 5 years old).  So see you in June for a great day out to support vital cancer services in our local community!
