The Story So Far......

Most residents will already be aware of the successful funding bid of £270,000 for capacity building within the community.  But what does this actually mean?  The partnership has been able to appoint a Project Coordinator and a support worker to undertake and deliver the action plan produced to secure the original funding.  The resources mean that we can open a shop to be a focal point for information, advice and assistance on regeneration and community involvement.  Premises have been identified and negotiations have started to secure a lease.

The Project Coordinator has a further role in securing funds to enable the projects identified from the focus groups to be delivered. The first task is to deliver £500,000 from European funding and £245,000 from the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) for projects to improve the town centre, the seafront, signage, street lighting and effective communications.  The overall aim is to improve the economic well being of the town by building on the good aspects of the town and doing something about the parts we least like, to encourage a better environment for those that live and work here as well as the visitors who are vital for the prosperity of the town.

Getting Involved?

Do you want to get involved in making your town and community the place you want it to be? Have a say in how it should change in the next fifteen years? Now is the time to get involved in our Focus Groups. It isn't difficult to join you just come along to the next meeting. There are five focus groups and the details of the meetings are below:-

Anybody can be a member, all we ask is that you donate a little time to meet with other like minded people and discuss the issues facing Sheringham and it's surrounding area.   Haven't got time to attend a focus group?  Then tell us how you want to be involved, how would you like to have your say? If we don't know we cannot change our way of involving more people! Perhaps you belong to a group or organisation who may like us to visit them.  Darryl and Mike are available to attend meetings with groups and organisations to present what is going on, enable debate on what we should be doing and encourage more involvement in the regeneration process.

COMMUNITY CHEST

The community chest is a 'pot of gold' of some £50,000 which the partnership has available to provide small grants between £250 to £2000 to "not for profit" organisations and groups in Sheringham and the surrounding area.  Grant applications must have a minimum of 50% match funding.
