NORFOLK LEGEND SUPPORTS LOCALLY BASED CHARITY

This October sees the welcome return of Keith Skipper and his Press Gang, in the grand spectacle that is 'More Squit on the Pier'! This marvelous return of last years' sell out success is to be taking place on the evening of Sunday 2nd October 2005 at the Cromer Pavilion Theatre at the end of the Pier at 7.30pm. Again Keith and the gang will be donating all proceeds from this Norfolk extravaganza to BREAK Charity.
BREAK provides holidays, short breaks and respite care for children and adults with learning and physical disabilities at their two North Norfolk centres - the Rainbow at Sheringham and The Sandcastle in Hunstanton. While at BREAK guests have a holiday to remember and their parents and carers have an opportunity for a holiday themselves or to simply recharge their batteries. The evening will also include a special return visit from Sid Kipper, who no doubt will entertain us all. The performance will include nostalgic anecdotes on Norfolk life and recent events, from the man who knows them best and founder of Friends Of Norfolk Dialect (F.O.N.D), Keith Skipper. This is a must-see event for those who appreciate reminiscences of a 'gentler' time, or anyone who appreciates the rapid fire of an amusing Norfolk tongue, in local dialect! This event alone could raise the funding towards nine holiday weeks for children with special needs, so that they can experience what it is like to live in Norfolk - just as Keith describes!
Tickets are £11.00 and are available from the Pavilion Box Office on 01263 512495. For more information about BREAK's services or supporting this locally-based charity please call 01263 820709.

READERS LETTERS

Here we go again. The great Tesco debate has entered yet another phase of arguments. Turned down again and they are going to appeal. Now why does that not surprise me in this world that we live in? There is very little hope for the human race if a small town like Sheringham cannot even make a decision on something like a supermarket! Surely it is very easy, pop a questionnaire out to every person on the electoral register in Sheringham and let him or her have a vote. Once the votes are in let the majority win. Then as a town we can get on with making some inroads into the real problems we have here. For instance, the young racers who are going to kill someone one day, the lack of facilities for the youngsters in town, the slow but sure changing face of our town (have you seen the state of repair of some of the existing businesses?). We could even tackle some of the major problems such as lack of decently paid work, getting affordable homes for those just starting out or even building new 'council' houses for those who want to get married and start a family, but can't as it would mean sharing with family. Tesco? All you have to do is look out of your window to see that they are already here, I cannot remember the last day I did not see one of their delivery vans dropping off their wares at one of the homes in our street, can you? This battle has been raging for years, let's make a decision and move on for goodness sake. MR

I do so hope Budgens won't be tempted to build on Station Car Park now we aren't having a Tesco. The present shop is so very handy and conveniently near the banks, clothes and stationery shops. The Station Car Park will be very isolated and not near any other shops. The present shop is so very well organised and has a very good variety of stock. (Last week they even had 'living lettuce' - a cut and come again living tray) and of course there is a car park just behind it. Rosalind Tyler
