LISA GODDARD HANDS OVER KEYS The whole of Sheringham Primary School were out in the playground to watch
Lisa Goddard hand over the minibus keys to the Headteacher, Mr Creagoe, in a very
satisfying ceremony on August 20. The sponsors, Songphonic, were represented by Sue
Broughton, assisted by the Variety Club's Ann Amaya-Torres, in a ceremony which will make
school trips available to all the children, including those that are disabled and in
wheelchairs, as it has been specially adapted to lift them onto the bus. The main
teacher responsible for raising funds - which has taken about two years - for the minibus
was the very popular Mrs Fields, who more than likely taught a lot of the children's
parents. She was also the main fund-raiser for the previous minibus 20 years ago.
So let's hope this new one lasts just as long. It will certainly be well
used, as the school's curriculum now includes lots of educational and sporting trips out.
YOUTH GROUP HELPERS WANTED Youth groups for Briston and Melton Constable are in need of helpers to
support their growing numbers of children. You have to be willing to have a CRB
(Criminal Record Bureau) check, which is normal for anyone working with children these
days, but you will understand that every parent wants to know that their child is as safe
as possible in all circumstances. It is only a couple of hours a week and is an
enjoyable way of teaching our children new things and making new friends. It is FUN! LAWSON WAY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SHERINGHAM After last years great success it is that time of year again for the
residents of Lawson Way to light up their houses with hundreds of festive lights,
illuminated snowmen, reindeer and glowing Santa's. The lights will be switched on at
6:30pm on Saturday 3rd of December under the watchful eye of Spike the hedgehog.
This year there will be refreshments at some of the houses with all donations going to the
East Anglian Air Ambulance and the Children's Trust, so please come along and support
these two very important local charities. |
