ROYAL BRITISH LEGION REMEMBERS AND ASKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT |
Every year on Remembrance Sunday, Sheringham people turn out whatever the
weather to parade through the streets to the War Memorial. The Sheringham Branch of
the Royal British Legion would like to thank all those who paraded with us this year. They
ranged from just a few years old through to those in their eighties and nineties and this
year for the first time we were joined by some children from Sheringham Primary School who
are not in either the Guiding or Scout movements. The Salvation Army Band led the
parade and to give you an idea of just how many came along, by the time the band had
reached St Peter's Road, the end of the parade were still marching past the Town Clock.
For a small town that is a marvellous show of support and thanks to all those who
have given their lives for our country and who continue to do so on a daily basis.
It was also very nice for us to be accompanied by two young gentlemen proudly wearing the
medals of their recently departed loved ones. The parade was followed by a service
at St Peter's Church. As a branch, we do need your help. The Royal British Legion is
an organisation, which aims to relieve need, suffering and distress amongst its
beneficiaries. These include members and former members of the Royal Navy, Army and
Royal Air Force, their wives, former spouses, widows, widowers and dependents. If you know
of anyone who needs help from the Royal British Legion and they fit into these categories,
please get in touch. We are a welfare organisation and we know there are many
ex-service and their families in Sheringham who could benefit if they would only get in
touch. You can call me, Mel Clarke, on 07884 365 192 at any time, all calls will be
totally confidential.
