North Norfolk Camera Club

Since the last report from the late Mr.Reg Tizard was published the Club has held four events.  Here is a brief report on each one.  On September 28th an Inter-Club competition took place between the NNCC and the North Walsham & District Camera Club, judged by Joy Hancock MPAGB FRPS from Mundesley.  Ten prints and ten slides from each side were separately judged and resulted in a clear win by the North Norfolk CC - 170 points to 150.5.  On October 12th a lecture was given at the British Legion Hall Blakeney by Derek Edwards a highly skilled aerial photographer.  Derek's splendid slides and prints together with his erudite and highly knowledgeable talk, gave the audience a fascinating view of Norfolk from the air.  October 20th was the date that the NNCC took part in a 3 Way Inter Club competition between the Norwich and District Photographic Society and Dereham Camera Club which hosted the evening meeting.  The Norwich group has some outstanding photographers and invariably wins the annual 'battle'.   They did so on this occasion winning overall by 145 points to Dereham's 128 and the NNCC's 126.  However the NNCC had the satisfaction of scoring maximum points for their slides ; two scenes taken in Namibia by John Cucksey scoring the maximum 10 points each.  Lastly, on October 26th.at the Holt Community Centre Dr Bob Ward LRPS, an active member of the NNCC, gave a most interesting and informative talk entitled 'Light with a Twist'.  Bob dealt with the polorization of light including the early research dating from the 18th century which eventually led to photographic filters and Polaroid sun glasses etc.  The use of these filters enables photographers to create quite dramatic effects whether using film or digital cameras.  For digital workers the meeting to be held in the Cley Village Hall at 7-30 pm on Wednesday November 23rd should prove to be particularly interesting.  Steve Jackson, an expert in digital processing will talk and demonstrate 'My way with Photoshop'.  Non-members will be welcome but as seating may be limited please telephone Trudy White (01263 713212) to check on places.   Finally on December 7th. the Club will meet in it's usual venue - the Holt Community Centre -when the 'Summer Cup Competition' will be held judged by Derek Leak CPAGB.  The subject this year has been 'The River Glaven'.  If readers are particularly interested in this 'local' river and it's surroundings or are members of the River Glaven Conservation Group, please come along - only £2 for visitors. Trudy White.
