NORTH NORFOLK CAMERA CLUB
On November 23rd Steve Jackson described "My Way With Photoshop"
to a very well attended meeting despite the fact that it clashed with the Holt Christmas
Lights switch-on. Members, guests and visitors were guided through a series of
demonstrations of ways to enhance photos and scanned slides to produce vastly improved
images using Photoshop software. If we needed motivation to give it a try then Steve
certainly made the prospect less daunting through his step-by-step guide.
The Glaven Valley is the subject for the club's Summer Cups competition on December 7th
and will be reported in a future issue. 'Photographing Sailing Boats' by local
sailor and cameraman Neil Foster will be the subject of the meeting on January 4th at Holt
Community Centre at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Neil has an international reputation for
his pictures and in 1994 won BT Marine 'Shot of the Year'. Visitors are very welcome -
photographers and sailors alike (or both!) for a small entrance fee of £2.
No local meeting on Wednesday January 18th, we are visiting Hunstanton
Camera Club.
An 'in-house' Photo-Forum evening will be held on February 1st - details next time. If
Santa brings you the camera or software on your wish list then NNCC might just be the club
you need to get you on the right photographic road. If you would like any
information regarding the club or any of our future meetings please contact the secretary,
Liz Kendall, on 01263 740493. TEW.

CATS PROTECTION
A young cat called Sputnik recently joined us via another Animal Rescue
Charity as, initially, he needed to be isolated because of an infection. Once this
infection had cleared we took him to our vets to be vaccinated prior to re-homing.
When our vet examined him he discovered that his heart was "missing a
beat" and after having an "ECG" to confirm this he was referred to a vet
who specialises in problems with the heart. The specialist took a further
"ECG" and also did a "scan" and advised us that Sputnik would need
blood tests and medication to identify the cause of the problem, as there was no obvious
defect with his heart. Sputnik is now waiting for the results of his blood tests and
has started taking his tablets. Once investigations are complete and we are fully aware of
the cause of his problem, Sputnik will be able to leave us for a new home should a
suitable family come along to claim him. Help will be offered for any ongoing
treatment that he requires for this problem. Sputnik is a very happy little cat that
has tolerated his frequent trips to the vets very well (even the long trip to see his
specialist) and we would dearly love to see him settled in a loving home.
If you are looking for a cat or kitten, call Stephanie on 01692 535858. Alternatively you
can visit www.northwalshamcats.co.uk
for a description and photographs of the cats before giving her a call on the above
number.
We would like to wish all the readers of "At Sheringham" a Happy Christmas and a
Prosperous New Year. Thank you if you have given one of our cats or kittens a new home
during the year and for supporting us in any other way.
