SHERINGHAM PRIMARY SCHOOL NATIVITY PLAYS
Review by John Humphrey
Having two children, one aged six and one aged 10, I went to both the infants' and the
juniors' nativity plays. Both were excellent, and performed with enthusiasm and
obvious pride by all the children.
The teachers responsible for the productions can take as much pride in the way they got
all the children involved in one part or another, and I'm sure that nearly every child in
the school played their part. I always thought that nativity plays were all the
same, but these performances were unique, and although the Christmas story was there, in
both plays, their own adaptations made them both very watchable and entertaining. The
infants play was based on the books by Janet and Allan Ahlberg, and involved a postman
(played by Lucas Brown) delivering presents to various children's storybook characters.
And after delivering sheep to the shepherds and parcels to the kings, made his
final delivery of a wooley vest for the baby Jesus. The juniors' play involved some
superb narrative from some of the children, acting by others, and a brilliant choir, which
introduced each aspect of the play with song. Both the plays were of a standard,
which will be hard to match next year.
