I was one of the many who attended the Protesc meeting on 9th January.
This was a meeting, as advertised, for those in favour of Tesco's coming to
Sheringham. Those who oppose it have already had their say. It was our turn
and a jolly good meeting it was, chaired fairly by Pam Blyth who didn't try to force her
opinions on us. Another good contribution came from a man in construction who
explained in detail the disruption that would occur if Budgens were allowed to build a
store in the Station car park. He demolished the naïve idea from the Chamber of
Trade chairperson that we would only lose ONE parking space. Sooner or later it will occur
to the antis / Scamrod, that if they want the town to prosper and the young to stay,
things must change and improvements made to peoples way of life. I'm sure you won't
find it too difficult to adapt, you will soon get the hang of scuffling around with the
rest of us in a bright new store, pushing our Tesco trolleys. After all, some of you
have had plenty of practice at Morrisons, Sainsburys and Asda.
