ST ANDREWS METHODIST CHURCH FLOWER FESTIVAL

The annual flower festival of St Andrews Methodist Church, Cromer Road, Sheringham takes place from 6th to 9th July 2006. The festivals have been run for over 30 years and over the years they have grown significantly and are now not only a major event for the church but also a significant event in the annual diary of many visitors to Sheringham. They even attract several coach parties from as far afield as Bedford!
Last year the festival, which took place over a 4 day period, attracted over 3,000 visitors and raised over £11,000 for church funds and a donation to local charities/voluntary groups. The local charity that is being supported this year is the Sheringham Salvation Army re-building project.

Every year the floral exhibits of the festival are designed to a specific theme. Last year the theme was "Times and Seasons" and 30 exhibits were on display, with varieties of flowers from all over the world. The sample picture files of exhibits from last years festival show the attention to detail that the designers take in covering their subject. The theme for 2006 is "What a Wonderful World" and we are confident that the displays will be just as imaginative as in the past.
Entry to the festival is free, the money being raised totally from donations and from proceeds of catering and an asortment of the many varied stalls run by church members. Examples of these stalls include, plants, books, bric-a-brac, arts and crafts, cakes, a raffle and various quizzes.
An advertising "flyer" giving additional information on the opening times of the festival is shown in the attached file.
Not knowing your deadline dates for publicity I have sent this information well in advance of the festival but would be grateful if you would include an article in your publication a little nearer to the time of the event.

DOUBLE JOY FOR EAST COAST WARRIORS

East Coast Warriors enjoyed a very successful weekend with both the U8s and U10s winning their League Cup competition.  The Under 8 competition was held on Saturday and the Warriors found themselves in up against Stalham B and Acle A in the group stages.  A 4-2 win and 1-1 draw was enough to see them win the group and progress to the knock-out stages and a quarter final against Old Catton and a semi final against Stalham.  The final saw the Warriors face Buxton who had played some outstanding football all day and reach the final without conceding a goal.   The final was a tense game with both teams playing some nice passing football.  After a Buxton attack the warriors broke with a fantastic pass out of defence by L. Meecham to K. Lubbock who picked out J. Saunders with a sublime pass to split open the Buxton defence which he slotted home coolie under a Buxton challenge.  Despite Buxton then throwing everything they had at the Warriors in the last few minutes they managed to hold on for a 1-0 win.  The Warriors squad consisted of C. Woods, J. Brady, C. Ecroyd, L. Meecham, J. Saunders, K. Lubbock, C. Covell, G. Glen and J. Baker all played very well throughout the day and thoroughly deserved to win.

The Under 10 competition held on the Sunday saw the warriors up against Drayton, Thorpe, Hellsdon and Colt Jags in the group stages, which they breezed through with a 100% record.   The Warriors then won the Quarter Final against Happisburgh 2-0 before seeing off Aylsham with the same score line.  In a cold wet final East Coast attacked from the start and were soon 1-0 up thanks to a T.Little goal.  Cromer tried to battle back but the Warriors midfield and defence were to strong for them and before long R.Nolan put East Coast 2-0 up. With a few minutes left Warriors made it 3-0 when J.Clark scored with a shot from just outside the box. The warriors squad which consisted of D. Lee, S. Ellis, H. Bailey, W. Crowe, T. Little, J. Clark, B. Walton, J. Swainson, R. Baker, R. Lees, R. Nolan and C. Lubbock all played well and thoroughly deserved to win the cup having completed the whole tournament without conceding a goal!
East Coast Warriors are a Sheringham based team who will be entering teams into the NENYL at U8, U9, U10, and U11 levels and new players are welcome. For more information call Shane Clark on 01263 824402 or check out the website www.eastcoastwarriors.co.uk
