GOVERNMENT INCOMPETENCE In response to further uncertainty over the Government's high profile move towards police mergers, Liberal Democrat MP Norman Lamb said, "This demonstrates the complete incompetence of the Government and their failure to think things through properly. It shows a failure to listen, and is an enormous waste of money. This comes on top of Primary Care Trusts established and then abolished. It's an object lesson in how not to run public services. Many people feared a more remote police force with a loss of local accountability." The only police forces mutually to agree on a proposed merger, Cumbria and Lancashire, have backed out of the plan as they were unable to resolve details.
CATS PROTECTION Although the kitten season was late this year due to cold weather in the
spring, we now have lots waiting to come in. One of the reasons we frequently get
asked to take in kittens is because the owners suddenly find they have more cats than they
can afford to keep. This usually happens when their original cat has kittens and
they decide to keep one of the litter, normally a female. They have usually re-homed
the other kittens with friends and family but find that within a short time both mum and
kitten are having more kittens. With far too many cats to cope with and no one
wanting to give the kittens a home, they turn to us for help. Providing we have room
we can usually take the kittens (and find them suitable homes) and, providing the owner is
receiving benefits, we can offer vouchers to help with the cost of getting the adult cats
neutered. Because this happens so often we always advise people to consider
carefully before keeping one of the kittens. It is important to remember that having
two cats not only means extra food, but also extra neutering costs, flee and worm
treatments, vaccinations and that unexpected veterinary bill should the cat become ill or
have an accident.
The Constantia Brothers are getting back together for a two hour musical extravaganza to open the popular Mundesley Festival in Norfolk on Sunday the 6th of August. The Coronation Hall in Mundesley is to stage an array of Jazz, Comedy, Greek song and dance in what looks like to be the most promising Festival yet. The Festival boasts of the best in Norfolk talent ranging from Keith Skippers Squit Wit to the colourful and rare appearance of World Music Masters and The Constantia Brothers and Maria are taking a break from major film projects to produce a one off show. The Festival has a cult following that has been built on past successes and maintains it's special atmosphere and humble surroundings that hark back to bygone UK Variety shows we all know and love.
