GO WILD & GET MUSIC WISE

Music Wise, the Youth Music Action Zone for Norfolk, is offering exciting opportunities for young people aged between 13 and 16 to bang bongo's, put the hip in hip hop dance, DJ like a professional and sing their way to success with a whole range of fantastically fun workshops.

Go Wild! features a mix of two and four day workshops costing £10 and £20 respectively on jungle themes between 23rd July to 31st of August in Fakenham, Briston, Stalham, Cromer, North Walsham, Happisburgh, and Sheringham.

Jungle Scratch will give participants the chance to learn how to be a DJ and play the African drums to create exciting combinations of mixing, scratching and drum rhythms to compose a unique piece of music.  Funky Rhythms will see participants learning funky African and Arabic rhythms on traditional hand drums.  Young drummers will be able to bang as loud as they like and then top it all off with some really loud singing!   Urban Beats will be about putting the hip into Hip Hop with a professional dancer teaching some of the latest dance moves to chart-topping dance tunes played by a professional DJ.

Youth Music Action Zones are about making a difference to young people by giving them the chance to make their own music and dance their own moves.  Throughout these Go Wild sessions Music Wise is giving young people the chance to learn to scratch, mix and play some fantastic tunes.  The four day workshops will give the young people the oportunity to work towards a group showcase on the final day.

There will also be creative arts sessions including cartoon animation to get involved in as well as the chance to kick back, relax and play some team sports and fun summer games.   Go Wild! will be fast paced fun and an opportunity not to be missed!  For information or to book a place visit www.music-wise.net, telephone 01953 713390 or pick up one of the bright yellow leaflets that have been distributed around the area.

WORK ON BEESTON COMMON

By the time you read this, work on improving the access path from the A149 (vehicle access) to Beeston Common will have begun.  This is designed to make the path more even and raise it's level so that it does not become so boggy in wet weather and to improve the area where the stream crosses.

It is part of preparations for launching the 'Sheringham Trails' walk round Sheringham and has been approved by all the statutory authorities, including Norfolk County Council and English Nature.

There will also be work to level the top of the former World War II pill box, to create a viewing platform and leave spaces below for creatures such as butterflies and bats to inhabit.

The work was due to take place in August but the contractor, Keith Welch Landscapes, had a cancellation and was able to start early.  We apologise for any inconvenience while the work is in progress.
