NORTH NORFOLK CAMERA CLUB

The Summer Exhibition was launched with an exceptionally well-attended preview evening.  Members and guests enjoyed the delightful surroundings of The Stable Gallery, Kelling, where owner, Jim Witherspoon, had sacrificed his workshop to provide a magnificent room to display over 30 framed photographs.  Award-winning chef, Galton Blackiston, from Morston Hall honoured the club by opening the exhibition and a framed portrait of Galton and his wife, Tracy, was presented to him by club chairman, Brian Singleton.

The exhibition will run until September 1st and the prints will be exhibited in two 'hangings' whereby one set will be on show until August 18th and a completely new set will be exhibited on August 19th.  This will enable the club to demonstrate proudly the members' achievements in recent years whilst giving visitors two opportunities to browse the Stable Gallery and all it has to offer.  It is a most interesting place to visit with a wide range of original paintings, sculptures and other works of art including jewellery, gifts and much more.  The exhibited prints will all be framed and most will be available for sale.

There is ample free parking and can be located south of Kelling village from the A149.   From Holt or High Kelling proceed in a northerly direction towards Kelling church.   More information can be found at www.norfolkeye.co.uk or telephone the gallery on 01263 710610.

Open 7 days a week.
Mon - Sat.......9.30 - 5.00pm.
Sunday..........10.00am - 4.00pm

Mr and Mrs Smith were walking home from the shopping mall with their purchases when Mr Smith began to complain that his load was too heavy.
Mrs Smith turned to her husband and said, "I don't know what you're complaining about because if you gave me one of your parcels, I would have twice as many as you and if I gave you just one of mine, we would have equal loads."
How many parcels was each carrying?

BEAVERS LOG

A short report this time as we only had two meetings before the summer hols.  Our annual Tide Fight was won by the sea - owing to the fact that the organiser (remaining nameless) had arranged this event when there was no beach!!   With Dunkirk spirit we soldiered on and had a stone castle building competition and other pebble based activities.

The following week, our end of term extravaganza was a fun-filled water activity night culminating in a water pistol fight.  At times this was a one sided affair owing to a lack of standardised weaponry - some participants had small water pistols, others had heavy duty bazooka sized guns.  Some of us were unarmed but still ended the evening thoroughly soaked!  The end of the meeting was an award fest with most Beavers going home with at least one badge - well done to all.

Our participation in the Carnival was, as for many others, restricted by the weather enforced change of date and time but good fun was had by all - we're pleased to report that the Dragon made it to the finish line in one piece having put up a marvellous fight en route.

Beavers resumes on Tuesday 12th September at 6pm at the Scout Hut.   We currently have some spaces available so anyone who would like to join Sheringham Beavers should contact Jayne Burghall on 825644 for membership information.  Beavers is for boys and girls aged 6 to 8 - younger children can join the waiting list, older ones are eligible for Cubs or Scouts.  Jayne also handles membership enquiries for all sections of Sheringham and Beeston Regis Sea Scout Group.
