Gardening Tips

Your fortnightly gardening tips for indoors and outdoors
Sheringham Community Paper
Take cuttings from chrysanths, cuttings should be 2 inches long after trimming. Make sure the compost is nice and moist before planting, also add some grit. Before planting dip cuttings in fungicide and and tap off excess, cover with a loose fitting bag and propagate until rooted.

Scatter slug pellets if you have planted dwarf iris or they may be damaged.

Prune late flowering clematis like jackmanili, if you don't they will still flower this year but you will find the flowers are closer to the top and the base of the plant will be bare of leaves.

For the best results of mint dig up now and replant in fresh soil also pot some in the greenhouse, herbs are so expensive to buy so share what you have with friends.

If you do have a greenhouse start to sow seeds in a propagator ready for summer bedding

Plant onions and shallots.

If you have a pond watch out for the ice, gasses do need to escape and fish to breathe leave a tennis ball in there it works!

We think that we have found a professional gardener willing to give us tips in the very near future, so if like me you are not sure what to do and when, we should soon have the answer to our prayers - we know a man that does!

I have so enjoyed looking at your photos of Sheringham. We lived there in 1960-61, renting from Mr. & Mrs. West (West's Fish Market), while my dad was stationed at RAF Sculthorpe.

My sister and I have so many memories of walking along the beach, and along the golf course (exploring the look-outs).

We hope to visit together within the next year or so.

Thank you again for a wonderful site. As I sit in East Texas, 60 miles north of Houston, I can return to your pictures again and again.

Life's too Serious!

Sheringham Community Paper

It was my first serious boyfriend he was a bit older and I was a bit too young but at the time you're totally smitten, we go to an away football game on a coach filled with football supporters 18 years plus. Picture it, we are on our way home everybody is singing and really going for it. I need a wee, I mean I really need a wee, stop the couch! Where do I go, that tree looks ok, no stingers that's great. What a relief until I get back on the coach everybody is still singing and enjoying my embarrassing moment you guessed it they had all seen me dodging the stingers.

Name withheld due to ongoing embarrassment!
