CHARITY CHEQUE PRESENTATIONS
Readers will hopefully remember that back in October, three mad fools from the Beaver
section of Sheringham & Beeston Regis Sea Scout Group, undertook a sponsored parachute
jump accompanied by six teachers from Sheringham Primary School. We had fantastic
support from the good people of Sheringham and thanks to them raised a magnificent total
of £2364.60.
Once we'd paid for the jump, half of what was left went to the Primary School and half
to the Scout Group. On November 29th, the three of us attended a cub meeting to
present a cheque for £919.80 to John Paine, the Group Scout Leader, accompanied by the
Beaver Leader, Nathan Liberman and a number of Beavers and Scouts. As the Scout
Group covers quite a wide range of ages, the requirements of each section varies
considerably. With this in mind, the money will be split, with the Cubs &
Scouts purchasing new tents and the Beavers getting some new indoor games - on a very
large scale!
They're hoping to buy some traditional board games (Snakes & Ladders, Ludo etc.)
where the players participate as the playing pieces which will certainly provide much
amusement during their meetings at the Hut.
We also attended the Primary School Christmas Fair to present a cheque to the
headmaster, Mr Dominic Cragoe. The money will either go towards the building of the
garage for the new minibus or be used to replace the audio equipment in the main hall some
of which is around 20 years old!! As this area is used by everyone in the school for
a great variety of purposes it will be of great benefit to them for many years.
In addition the 6 teachers raised £1250 for the school and a similar sum for charities
of their choice
