CATS PROTECTION

On Saturday the 18th November we held our Christmas Sale and raised an incredible £1,547 for the cats in our care.  Friends and cat lovers came from near and far to support us and purchase some of the lovely items we had for sale.  We would like to thank them for their support, and hope they enjoyed the morning.

The first prize in the raffle "A Hamper of Good Cheer" was won by Mick with ticket no 1116, a lady from Swanton Morley was delighted to guess the weight of the cake correctly as it was her birthday the following week, and Sue Riggott guessed the correct name of the clown.

This was provided by our friends Doreen and Eileen (who dressed up as a clown) and who travelled from Fakenham to support us. We would like to thank these two ladies and all our other helpers for all their hard work on the day, especially those who helped get ready for the sale.

We do not normally have meny kittens coming into care at this time of the year. However, this year we are still receiving requests from people for us to take in their kittens and at present have nearly twenty in care, their ages ranging from 8 weeks to 5 months.

There are also several more due to come in shortly. This is largely due to the very warm weather we have had this autumn. Hopefully, numbers will reduce now the temperatures have dropped.

If you are looking for a cat or kitten, call Stephanie on 01692 535858.   Alternatively you can visit www.northwalshamcats.co.uk for a description and photographs of the cats before giving her a call on the above number.

SHERINGHAM EVENING W.I.

Janet Rose, our W.I. Advisor, commented at the November meeting of Sheringham Evening W.I. that it was the first AGM at which she had been asked to dance for her supper!  Her remark came after she and other members took to the floor to try Line Dancing following a display by a group of our members.  Line Dancing is but one of the activities taken up by interested members this year, as reported by Secretary Maureen Cook at our AGM.  Scrabble, walking, darts, crafts and singing have all proved popular and recently 10 - pin bowling has been added to the list.   Not forgetting, either, the dedicated team who look after the Anglia 'One' Station garden, now in their 22nd year of weeding, planting and tidying for the pleasure of the many passengers for whom this is their impression of the Town.  As always, we have taken part fully in Community events and two days after our meeting joined the Town Remembrance Day Parade to the War Memorial where President Marion Clark laid a wreath on behalf of members.Marian was re-elected President for a further year at the AGM and whilst four committee members stood down, we have five new volunteers bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm.   With interesting speakers, several well-supported outings and successful fund-raising events, it has been a busy but rewarding year for the Institute.
