STUFFED DATE TRAFFIC LIGHTS

25 Dates
75g Cream Cheese
25g Icing Sugar
Grated orange Rind
Orange Juice
1 Packet Smarties

This makes 25 sets of Traffic Lights.
Slit the dates along one side and take out the stone.  Place the cream cheese in a basin and add the orange rind and a little orange juice.  Mix well with a spoon and beat in the icing sugar.  Use this mixture to stuff the centre of the dates.

Press a red, orange, and green smartie onto the stuffing to look like traffic lights.

ROTARY QUIZ NIGHT SUCCESS

On Saturday the 11th November the Rotary Club of Aylsham held a quiz night in the hall of Bure Valley School.  This is a new event in the club's calendar of events and was a sell-out with all of the 26 tables being sold in advance of the night.   A bar was available and a fish and chip supper (supplied by Gotersons) supplied half way through the quiz session.

There were ten different categories of questions (to suit all abilities) called through the evening, some of which were easy and some not so easy!  Rotary President Mike Downes welcomed the 'quizzers' who attended and announced that all profits would be going to local and Rotary charities.

During the half-time supper session the raffle was drawn, three cash prizes totalling £100 were won, these had been kindly donated by Aylsham Fun Barns who also supplied a team of quizzers.

At the end of the evening the winning team was 'The Feathers' and led by Graeme Johnstone, the six conquering players were each presented with a box of Cadbury's Heroes and a bottle of wine.

The final profit from the evening was just under £1,000 - a magnificent sum for a first-time event.  The club is already discussing a similar event for 2007.
