SHERINGHAM & CROMER ROUND TABLEThe annual Senior Citizens Party is always one of the highlights of the Round Table Year giving Round Tablers chance to express their theatrical talents which fortunately for the rest of the year remains dormant. Over a 100 people attended this year event at Sheringham High School which watched a show based on Saturday Night on the television. The show was opened by Sheringham 2nd Brownies who are always a favourite with the audience and got everyone in the mood with a sing-a-long.
Round Table returned with Philip Moy as Bruce Forsyth in a version of Play Your Cards Right. Mark Hudson and his dancers provided a quality finish to the show with ever popular numbers including songs from the Sound of Music. Round Table chairman Andy Johnson stated afterwards, "We always enjoy putting on the show even though a lot of hard work is involved and thanked all the organisations who made contributions to the evening". Sheringham & Cromer Round Table is a social organisation which meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month for men between the ages of 18 to 45. Anyone interested in joining should contact Andy Johnson on 01263 822146 or visit www.sheringhamandcromerroundtable.co.uk.
SHERINGHAM - OTTENDORF TWINNING ASSOCIATIONThe Annual General Meeting took place at St. Andrews Church Hall on Wednesday 29th November. Retiring Chairman Brian Dewhurst reported on the years' activities which included a visit from the townspeople of Otterndorf in April and a return visit by our members in June. Evelyn Meakin who has been involved with the formation of the Twinning Association was elected as Chairman and her main aim will be to encourage more clubs and different interest groups to contact each other and hopefully exchange. At the recent Christmas Lights Switch On members organised a popular stall of German Bockwurst and Gluwein, completely selling out. A donation of £100 was given to the Christmas Lights Committee. The next event will be a Christmas Social. Plans are already in progress for the 20 year celebrations next October when a large group from Ottendorf is expected. Current membership stands at 100. If interested in Twinning activities or exchanges please contact Evelyn Meakin on 01263 823818 for further details. |
CHRISTMAS SHOE BOXESOperation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse. Whose main aim is in meeting critical needs of victims of war, poverty, famine, disease and natural disaster. Last year 1 million boxes were raised. This year an equally amazing amount of 316 boxes were collected by St. Joseph's along with the help of North Norfolk Constabulary, Girl Guides, St. Andrew's Church and various women's groups as well as one or two schools. All these generously donated gifts will be taken to the children of Serbia. Many thanks to all those who made this possible. A NEW W.E.A. Sheringham & Cromer Ladies Circle as well providing all the food
showed their glamorous side with a Moulin Rouge dance. A return to the World of
Sport Wrestling followed when the Gay Gordon's proved yet again that good will always
triumph over bad defeating the Twin Towers in a Round Table spoof of the popular Saturday
afternoon entertainment. The Brownies closed the first half with a Norwich City
vursion of jingle Bells. Round Tablers are forced to leave the organisation at the
age of 45 but the ex Tablers showed they are still light on their feet despite their age
earning top marks in Strictly Come Dancing.
