CATS PROTECTION

When Pixie went to see her vet recently for a further blood test is was apparent that the problem with her thyroid gland had returned and her vet recommended she also had her thyroid glands removed. Her vet was confident that there would not be any complications and she returned for the operation the next day. She quickly recovered from the operation and we were delighted when someone rang who was interested in giving her a new home. After her post operative check she left for her new home and her new owners are delighted with her. She has settled in quickly and loves to be groomed and have a cuddle. Although Pixie is over 10 years old, her new owners should have many more happy years with her and although we miss her, we wish her well in her new home.

With cats living so much longer now, please consider giving one of the older cats a home when looking for a new companion. Perhaps because they are normally with us for a longer period than the younger cats, we get to know them better and become very fond of them.

As we are entering a New Year, I would like to thank everyone who has supported us throughout 2006, by giving a home to one of our cats or kittens, helping us with the fund raising, giving us raffle prizes or goods to sell, donating food for the cats or having one of our collecting boxes. Finally we would like to thank our fosterers for the wonderful job they do, looking after the cats and kittens while in our care. Without their commitment we would not be able to help so many cats needing new homes.

If you are looking for a cat or kitten, please call Stephanie on 01692 535858. Alternatively you can visit http://northwalsham.cats.org.uk descriptions and photographs of the cats before giving her a call on the above number.

Youth group leaders and helpers wanted.

Youth groups for Blakeney, Sheringham and Cromer are in need of leaders and helpers to support their growing numbers of children.

You have to be willing to have a CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) check, which is normal for anyone working with children these days, but you will understand that every parent wants to know that their child is as safe as possible in all circumstances. It is only a couple of hours a week and is an enjoyable way of teaching our children new things and making new friends.

It is FUN!

If you want to know more about helping the youth in our community please call:- Andrea Surridge - 01263 587503

Potential leaders will also be willing to undertake the training to be a leader which could be an asset on your C.V. or lead you on to greater things, but will most definitely enable the youth groups to cope with the many children who wish to join.

HUMAN RIGHTS

The Question for this issue is:

What do you think about the Human Rights Act?

Do you feel this act has had a good or bad result in Great Britain?   There has been much publicity over the last year or two on this subject, but we would be interested to find out local views on this subject.

Has this effected you at all? Please email or write in to the paper.
