READERS LETTER
Dear Ed

I was introduced to "@Sheringham" last week - issue 6

"Introduction" was right! By the time I had read through "Vic" I was so depressed I felt I couldn't read any more (but I did)! Hasn't that man got a good word to say about anything? Nothing seems right in his world, poor chap. Did he go to the panto? Does he realise it was a special appearance of Helen McDermot and Des Barrit? There were many local performers and it was a great show. The scenery deserves a special mention too.

I have spoken to several people who were awakened by the Salvation Army, two of them workers who didn't get to bed until 5a.m - their reaction of being woken "oh its Christmas"! Please give us humans a cheerful start to your paper. With best wishes for your success and a more optimistic attitude!

Yours Sincerely

B. M. Gething (Mrs)

Dear Editor

What a sad life "Vic" must lead! His column in issue 6 of @ Sheringham has a grouse about something in every paragraph - and why the vitriol about The Little Theatre's pantomime? Do I detect a large bunch of sour grapes, as "my family and friends" are not performing this year? Could they have given two performances each day for all eleven days? And what performances they were this year, so generous and so joyful. I'm looking forward to next year's show already! I hope to hand in this letter at Ineke's surgery at The Little Theatre. No doubt the facilities are offered free by the theatre - what a pity Vic chose to belittle their fundraising efforts. The theatre, after all, is a charity.

Later in his column, Vic bemoans all the misery prevalent in the Christmas (not Xmas, please) television soaps - maybe all that telly he watches is what makes him so miserable, too. He should get out more.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs. K Morgan

News release from North Norfolk District Council

New guidance leaflet on replacement windows to help keep the character and appearance in our towns & villages. This is the message issued this week by NNDC, in a special leaflet designed to give local people and window suppliers more information and guidance on the best and most appropriate type of replacement windows to use on certain buildings in certain areas of the District. "Windows are one of the most distinctive features of a building, and they make a major contribution to the appearance of our towns and villages." Said Phil Godwin, NNDC's Conservation and design Manager.

The new leaflet, which has been produced by NNDC to meet a growing concern regarding inappropriate and unattractive replacement windows, explains when planning permission is required for replacements and offers general advice on their design. It includes a checklist to help determine when the appearance of a building will be 'materially affected' by a change in window design.

Anyone who would like a copy of the new leaflet, and/or information and advice about the installation of replacement windows, should contact Phil Godwin or Chris Young, in NNDC's Conservation and Design Team, on 01263 516131 or 516138

Sheringham High School's Call to Arms

Sheringham High School is hoping to build a picnic area for the pupils on the patch of unused land by the new Millennium building. School council member Adam Higgs, of year 9, told us "We are looking to the parents of pupils and members of the community to help us build up the area. Anything people can offer would be greatly appreciated, from mixing cement to making tea." The area is currently grass and mud with a few benches and the idea is make it into a concrete area with benches and bins so the pupils have a proper place to sit and eat. Mansells the builders, who have been working on school site recently, have already said they will help. Any body that can offer their assistance should contact Sheringham High School on (01263) 822363 and leave their details.
